Album cover for Kinda Hard by Bilmuri

Bilmuri - Kinda Hard

Not only did Enter-Shikari drop a new album on Friday, so did Bilmuri!
Having two albums from bands I like drop at the same time does not happen that often, so this weekend has been a treat.

Bilmuri’s previous album American Motor Sports came like a breath of fresh air and swept the mainstream metal/rock scene.
It put the term “countrycore” on the map and I was all for it. The music was something new and fresh, and the fact that they put out humorous low budget music videos as well as Johnny Franck seeming like such a down to earth guy just added to the appeal.
Saxophone’s in metal/rock is also underrated. Just saying.

Kinda Hard continues on the same thread so if you liked the previous one, you probably liked the singles for this album, and you’ll like the album as a whole as well.

The singles are in my opinion the best songs so the album didn’t offer me more songs that I’ll play regularly.
It does start with a ridiculously heavy album intro that will make you wonder if your speakers are okay!
If Bilmuri want to go hard, they can. The best combination of that is probably the song More Than Hate. But heaviness is not the MO of these albums. It’s used sparingly and with taste (or just for the fun of it).

I highly recommend this album and the previous one if you haven’t heard Bilmuri before!

Best songs:
  • TWICE
  • WORST PART OF YOU
  • MORE THAN HATE
  • HARD2TELL
  • ALWAYS LET YOU DOWN
